UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs The Korean Zombie Tips, Predictions & Preview

Ortega vs The Korean Zombie

UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs The Korean Zombie will take place at UFC Fight Island, Abu Dhabi on Sunday, October 18 at 10am AEDT.

Here are our best bets and predictions for the UFC Featherweight bout between Brian Ortega and โ€˜The Korean Zombieโ€™ Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night on ESPN.

Ortega vs The Korean Zombie

Jung returned from mandatory military service in South Korea in 2017 and has quickly established himself in the featherweight division.

The 33-year-old is 3-1 from his last four fights and that could have easily been a perfect 4-0 if not for an elbow strike from Yair Rodriguez in the final second of the fifth round. โ€˜The Korean Zombieโ€™ bounced back from that loss with first-round stoppages over Frankie Edgar and Renato Moicano. If he can win on Sunday, he will be firmly set for a title shot.

Brian Ortega is looking to bounce back from his first ever defeat against Max Holloway in December 2018 when challenging for the UFC Featherweight Championship. โ€˜T-Cityโ€™ quickly became a must-watch fighter after signing with the UFC in 2014. His all-round ability is tremendous with a string of stoppage victories over quality opponents. He delivered a first-round knockout against Frankie Edgar which earned him the title shot against Max Holloway.

Unfortunately for Ortega, he was completely outclassed by โ€˜Blessedโ€™ as a doctorโ€™s stoppage saw Holloway retain the belt. Ortega hasnโ€™t fought since that defeat due to a torn ACL.

This could be a highlight-reel fight as Jungโ€™s 16 victories have only required the judges on two occasions. Ortega has 14 wins and only four have been via decision.

Both men are likely to want to leave the Octagon with a stoppage win next to their name and we believe it will be โ€˜The Korean Zombieโ€™ who has his hand raised at the end of the fight.

Jung has been dominant in his past two fights over Moicano and Edgar and he should be looking for more of the same here.

Ortega hasnโ€™t fought in almost two years and he may still have mental scars from his defeat against Holloway. It was 20 minutes of domination from the then champion and we will see if Ortega can recover. Jung has more stopping power than Holloway also. โ€˜The Korean Zombieโ€™ will try and prevent Ortega from turning this into a grappling match and if this is a stand-up scrap, then Jung can dominate, picking Ortega apart within the first three rounds to move one step closer to a title shot.
