Preview: Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone
Here are our best bets for the remainder of the UFC 246 card.
Holly Holm vs Raquel Pennington
The co-main event is a Women’s Bantamweight bout between “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington.
There are immediate concerns about where Holm is at with five losses from her last seven fights. She comes off a TKO loss against Amanda Nunes at UFC 239. Pennington has won five of her last seven but two of those losses came in the previous three fights – TKO loss against Nunes and unanimous decision defeat against Germaine de Randamie.
Holm defeated Pennington back in 2015 via split decision; Holm extended her record to 8-0 at the time and she has fallen from grace since that year.
In what appears to be an even fight on paper this time around, we are happy to back the underdog in Pennington to exact revenge over her 2015 defeat.
Aleksei Oleinik vs Maurice Greene
This heavyweight clash in unlikely to go the distance with 42-year-old veteran Aleksei Oleinik looking to avoid a third-straight knockout loss and Greene looking to bounce back from his own knockout defeat.
Oleinik’s last four fights haven’t gone past the first round; he either lands the takedown and forces his opponent to submit or he has an early nap after being kneed and punched.
If Greene gets taken down, we don’t like his chances of staving off “The Boa Constrictor” who has won 45 of his 57 wins via submission. Happy to take $2.50 about Oleinik to win by KO, TKO, DQ or submission just in case the Ukrainian-born Russian lands a finishing blow rather than a constricting one.
