Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier Start Time
The main card at UFC 252 begins at 12pm AEST on Sunday, August 16.
Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier Preview and Prediction
The main event sees UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (19-3) clash with #1 contender Daniel “DC” Cormier (22-2, 1NC) for the third time with the pair having won one each.
DC needed less than a round to capture the UFC Heavyweight Championship from Miocic at UFC 226 with a knockout victory 4:33 into the first round.
At UFC 241, Miocic would record a TKO win over Cormier in the fourth round to regain the title.
Neither man has fought since and the trilogy will determine which heavyweight is the superior fighter.
Miocic towers over Cormier with the 6’5” champion having a 7.5-inch reach advantage over the 5’11” challenger.
Both men boast similar significant strikes stats with Miocic averaging 2.2 takedowns per 15 minutes compared to DC’s 1.81. When it comes to submission, Miocic is yet to win a fight via submission compared to Cormier who has won five times via submission and is known for his wrestling which could be on display in the trilogy.
It would be a great fairytale for the 41-year-old Cormier to capture the Heavyweight title once again. His only career losses have come against Jon Jones in the Light Heavyweight division and Miocic in their last bout.
Despite the feelgood story on offer here, Miocic’s reach advantage and striking at UFC 241 was impressive and the champion appeared to get on top of DC in the third round before his TKO stoppage in the fourth.
Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier Tips
Both men have shown they have what it takes to defeat the other with one win apiece heading into the third and final fight. Stipe Miocic looked good towards the end of their second fight before his TKO win and he can retain his belt to end the trilogy once and for all.
