  • Read our tips.

The highly anticipated 2019 AFL Grand Final should be cracking match and the contest between the Richmond Tigers and the GWS Giants will be very hot early on.

Both sides will be desperate to score that magical first goal and there will be plenty of punters having a go at the popular bet type; first goalscorer.

We have taken some of the guesswork out for you and come up with a guide to finding the winner.

Looking at the statistics for Richmond for the 2019 season and their scoring has been dominated by Tom Lynch, who has booted 61 goals to date. Dustin Martin has snagged 28 majors, while Jason Castagna has chimed in with 27.

The former Coleman Medal winner, Jack Riewoldt, has managed just 19 but has only played 12 games this year after sustaining a knee injury. He has been a bit of a decoy for Lynch at times.

Kane Lambert, Josh Caddy, Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton are other Tigers that have hit the scoreboard and are averaging just under one goal per game.

Lynch starred in the Tigers Preliminary Final win over Geelong last weekend, booting five goals, including two of Richmond's first three. Dustin Martin kicked the Tigers first goal. That came after a Gary Ablett major for Geelong.

GWS have had a healthy spread of goal kickers, most notably, Jeremy Cameron, who has kicked more than any other player this season with 75 goals. Jeremy Finlayson is next with 44, while Harrison Himmelberg has 37. Toby Greene heads a host of others with 27.

Cameron and Finlayson were the multiple goal kickers for GWS in their thrilling four point Preliminary Final win. Cameron booted three, while Finlayson kicked two, including the Giants first of that game.

The last time Richmond and GWS met was in Round 17. The Tigers won that by 33 points and it was Kane Lambert that bobbed up with three goals for the winners, while Tom Lynch also kicked three. Jason Castagna booted two. Jeremy Cameron and Bobby Hill kicked three for GWS, while Toby Greene booted two. Richmond's Sydney Stack kicked the first goal of the match.

Earlier in the year, GWS smashed an undermanned Richmond side by 49 points. Jeremy Cameron kicked seven goals, including the first of the game, while Jeremy Finlayson kicked five. Tom Lynch booted four for Richmond, while Daniel Rioli kicked three.

Suggested Bets:

Jeremy Cameron (GWS Giants) - $7.50 at BetEasy

It is hard to go past GWS's Jeremy Cameron as the obvious selection. He has an excellent record over Richmond and ticks plenty of other boxes in that he comes into this in great form and is the competition's leading goal kicker. He kicked the Giants last goal in their Preliminary Final win, a beauty from 45 metres and has a solid conversion rate of 60%.

Kane Lambert (Richmond) - $26 at BetEasy

For those that like a bit of an outsider, why not consider Richmond's Kane Lambert. The established player may not receive the accolades of the likes of Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin but is a star in his own right and kicked three the last time the two sides met. He may be able to sneak under the Giants guard early on. He kicked a vital goal in the Preliminary Final and represents value at the $26.
