AFL Multibet Tips - 5-leg multibet paying $313 on this weekend's Round 18 AFL fixtures

  • We're looking to win big with our weekend multibet on Round 18 of the AFL.
  • Here are our selections.

Round 18 of the AFL home and away season opens up on Friday night when the Adelaide Crows take on Essendon at the Adelaide Oval.

That encounter features in our five-leg AFL multi that pays $313 for a $10 investment at sportsbet.

Here are our selections.

Friday, July 19

Adelaide Crows v Essendon, Adelaide Oval (7.50pm)
Adelaide Crows 1-39 $2.10

Adelaide will need to be at their best against a Bombers outfit that have found a way to win in recent weeks. But with the home ground advantage, the Crows look to be the play here. They average slightly more disposals this season and should find enough supply for their forwards. Matt and Brad Crouch are likely to find plenty the ball in the middle of the ground, while Rory Atkins and Rory Laird will set things up from the backline. The loss of Michael Hurley hurts for Essendon, who have been smashed in two previous visits to the Adelaide Oval against the Crows. Take the home side in the head to head betting.

Saturday, July 20

Richmond v Port Adelaide, MCG (1.45pm)
Richmond 1-39 $2.10

Richmond head into this as strong favourites on the back of some superior recent form that has seen them win their past three matches. Since the bye in June, the Tigers have welcomed back a host of key players from injury and have enjoyed victories over St Kilda, Gold Coast and GWS. Port Adelaide are good on their day and Ollie Wines, Robbie Gray, Tom Rockliff and Travis Boak can get the edge in the middle of the ground but Richmond are the more balanced of the two sides and have a number of players that can stand up at either end of the ground. Expect the Tigers to get the upper hand here.

Carlton v Gold Coast Suns, Marvel Stadium (2.10pm)
Carlton -23.5 $1.90

The two sides have battled throughout 2019 but Carlton have been the big improvers in recent times, winning three of their past five, with those victories coming since David Teague replaced Brendan Bolton as coach. Last weekend, the Blues broke a bit of a hoodoo by knocking over Sydney at the SCG by seven points and it was Patrick Cripps that starred once again, while Ed Curnow and Matt Kreuzer were also influential. They are going from strength to strength, while the Suns are floundering having lost their past two by over 90 points. They have a massive injury list and it is hard to see them turning things around here.

GWS Giants v Collingwood, Sydney Showground Stadium (4.35pm)
Collingwood H2H Win $1.78

The respective injury lists may have a big bearing on proceedings in this game and it will be the ability of either side to adapt. Collingwood will be without a couple of important intercepting defenders but the Giants midfield has been obliterated and the Magpies can get the edge with Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom and Adam Treloar to find plenty of the footy. If the likes of Jordan de Goey and Mason Cox can convert up forward, the Pies can register another important win in their quest to finish in the top four.

Sunday, July 21

Geelong Cats v Hawthorn, MCG (1.10pm)
Geelong 1-39 $2.10

These two always seem to play in close games and this should be no exception. Hawthorn have won their past two and will look to set up their play from their defensive half. James Sicily looms as a key, while Jarman Impey is another that is in good form. But against a Cats outfit that boasts the likes of Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood and Mitch Duncan we can expect the class of the ladder leaders to help them to another victory over modern day foes.
