  • We're looking to win big with our weekend multibet on Round 21 of the AFL.
  • Here are our selections.

Round 21 of the AFL home and away season shapes as another beauty and there is plenty at stake as we head towards the finals.

We have previewed the action and picked out a five-leg multi that pays $295 for a $10 investment at sportsbet.

Here are our selections.

Saturday, August 10

Melbourne v Collingwood, MCG (1.45pm)
Collingwood 1-39 $2
Collingwood's form has been a bit shaky but it is hard to see them dropping this one after registering a confidence building 69 point win over the Gold Coast Suns at the MCG last weekend. Nathan Buckley's side have had to dig deep due to their big injury list but should have enough cattle to overcome the disappointing Demons with the likes of Adam Treloar, Steele Sidebottom and Brodie Grundy in good form. The two sides met as recently as Round 12 this year in the annual Queens Birthday fixture and it was Collingwood on that occasion, there third in a row against the Demons. This one should be a similar result.

Brisbane Lions v Gold Coast Suns, Gabba (4.35pm)
Brisbane -48.5 $1.90

This all points to a big win for Brisbane. The Lions will head in as overwhelming favourites and sit in 3rd position on the ladder with 14 wins under their belt. Only percentage separates them from the faltering ladder leaders, Geelong. Their opponents, the Gold Coast, are on a 15 game losing streak and while Touk Miller, Jarrad Witts and David Swallow are some players that can hold their heads high after solid seasons, they lack the depth in this contest. The finals bound Brisbane outfit have a stack of talent around the ground and their forwards in Charlie Cameron, Allen Christensen and Eric Hipwood should enjoy a day out.

Essendon v Western Bulldogs, Marvel Stadium (7.25pm)
Western Bulldogs Head to Head $2.15

This shapes as an interesting one and it is the the Bulldogs can test Essendon with their run and carry. The Dogs are sure to find plenty of the ball with Jackson Macrae and Marcus Bontempelli in hot form. Zach Merrett and Dylan Shiel take on those two in the middle and should find enough of the ball to supply their forwards but the Bombers will need to be at their best and the likes of Anthony McDonald Tipungwuti and Cale Hooker will be out to lift after a quiet performance last weekend in the big loss to Port Adelaide.

Geelong Cats v North Melbourne, GMHBA Stadium (7.25pm)
North Melbourne +24.5 $1.90

Geelong are on shaky ground at the moment and North Melbourne can give them a fright here. The Cats set the pace in 2019 but their grip on top spot is under threat as they have lost four of their past seven since the mid season bye. They were ordinary against Fremantle last weekend, going down by 34 points. They face a North Melbourne outfit that looked sharp after quarter time of their Round 20 clash, overcoming a deficit to defeat Hawthorn by 22 points. North can trouble Geelong with their midfield combination of Ben Cunnington and Shaun Higgins, while Ben Brown can be a factor up forward.

Sunday, August 11

West Coast Eagles v Adelaide Crows, Optus Stadium (4.40pm)
West Coast +26.5 $1.90

West Coast head in as favourites for the big game and should be too good for an under siege Adelaide outfit. The Eagles will dominate in the air and look for their intercepting defenders in Jeremy McGovern and Shannon Hurn to play a role, while their forwards have been much more consistent compared to Adelaide over the course of the season and should kick a winning score.
