We have reached the penultimate round of the AFLW and there is plenty at stake as a number of sides vie for a Grand Final birth.

There are four games in store over the Labour Day weekend and the action begins with the Adelaide and Fremantle encounter on Friday 9 March.

Here is our game by game preview.

ADELAIDE CROWS ($1.34) v FREMANTLE ($3.25) - Friday 9 March, 5.35pm at TIO Stadium

Both sides remain in the hunt for a Grand Final birth but face an uphill battle to qualify as they need other results to fall their way. A loss will end their hopes. Adelaide have two wins and a draw to their credit, while Fremantle have also picked up two wins. The Dockers went down to GWS by 18 points last weekend and will need to improve their efficiency in front of goal. Despite dominating the clearances, they could only manage three majors. Ebony Antonio, Kara Donellan and Lara Filocamo should ensure the Dockers are a chance here. A lot will depend on the fitness of the star Adelaide player, Erin Phillips, who sat out the latter stages of the Crows 35-point win over Carlton with quad tightness. The Crows have a number of players that can step up in her absence, however, including Ruth Wallace and Eloise Jones. That pair combined for five majors last weekend and a similar display will be enough to see their side over the line in this one.

BRISBANE LIONS ($1.34) v COLLINGWOOD ($3.25) - Saturday 10 March, 3.35pm at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex

Brisbane can inch one step closer to a Grand Final birth and are currently 2nd on the ladder on three wins, equal on points with 3rd placed Melbourne. They tackle a Collingwood lineup that have won just one game for the season. The Lions come off a six-point loss to the Demons and will be desperate to make amends. They have a tricky match up next weekend against GWS to come and a loss here could spell disaster. However, the Lions should have the game to account for the Pies. Their tackling pressure has been excellent this year and with the influential Sabrina Frederick-Traub in their line-up they should hold the aces.

GWS GIANTS ($2.45) v WESTERN BULLDOGS ($1.55) - Saturday 10 March, 7.10pm at UNSW Canberra Oval

The Western Bulldogs need just one more win to qualify for the Grand Final and have won four of their five matches. They head in as favourites for the clash against GWS, who have been the improvers this year with two wins and a draw from their five games. The Giants have not suffered a loss since Round 2 and defeated Freo in Perth by 18 points last weekend. Alicia Eva continues to play good footy, while Erin McKinnon has been influential in the ruck. However, the Bulldogs have plenty of depth in their midfield and with Ellie Blackburn, Emmas Kearney and Monique Conti finding plenty of it they should provide their forwards with enough supply to pick up the vital four points.

CARLTON ($2.75) V MELBOURNE ($1.45) - Sunday 11 March, 4.35pm at Ikon Park

The last game of Round 6 sees the injury-cursed Carlton outfit take on Melbourne in what should be an interesting game at Ikon Park. The Blues are just one game behind 2nd placed Brisbane but a spot in the decider seems highly unlikely. Melbourne can set up a final week showdown with the Bulldogs if they knock over Carlton and head in as favourites. Daisy Pearce continues her outstanding form. She picked up 23 disposals in the six-point win over Brisbane last weekend, while the ever-reliable Karen Paxman and Elise O'Dea continued their strong seasons. Without Breanna Davey, the Blues season has gone downhill and they will need big contributions from a host of players including Breann Moody and Tayla Harris. However, it is hard to see them snapping their three-game losing streak.
