We are set for a riveting final round of AFLW action with five sides in contention for a spot in the Grand Final on Saturday March 24.

Here is our preview of the action.

GWS GIANTS ($1.80) v BRISBANE LIONS ($2) - Friday 16 March, 7.05pm at Blacktown ISP

GWS have been the big improvers in 2018 and a win here will see them into the box seat for a Grand Final birth. Brisbane can also make the decider but will need other results to fall their way, while their percentage is some cause for concern. The Lions suffered a shock defeat to Collingwood last weekend and will need their big guns to fire to remain in contention. The Giants recorded what was regarded as their best ever win in the AFLW, an 18-point defeat of the Western Bulldogs. With Courtney Gum and Alicia Eva in sizzling form, GWS can get the vital points here.

FREMANTLE ($1.55) v CARLTON ($2.55) - Saturday 17 March, 2.05pm at Fremantle Oval

The two sides are out of the finals race and will be battling to avoid the wooden spoon. Carlton won their first two games of the year before crashing out of contention by losing their past four. Freo also sit with a win-loss record of 2-4. Last week, the Blues went down by 35 points to Melbourne, while the Dockers just missed out against Adelaide, going down by four points. The West Australians have been more competitive than Carlton in recent weeks and enjoy the home ground advantage. With fewer injuries and some firing guns in the form of Kara Donellan, Dana Hooker and Lisa Webb, the locals will finish off their season in style

WESTERN BULLDOGS ($1.95) v MELBOURNE ($1.85) - Saturday 17 March, 7.10pm at Whitten Oval

The winner of this game will make it through to the Grand Final, while the loser will need other results to go their way. The Bulldogs opened the door for other sides by going down to GWS last weekend but regain their key playmaker, Katie Brennan, from injury in what is effectively a Preliminary Final. Emma Kearney and Ellie Blackburn will be other key players at the kennel. Melbourne have a tendency to be a tad inconsistent but have been good in key moments this year. The loss of Mel Hickey to an ACL injury will hurt but the Dees have plenty of depth and their star players such as Daisy Pearce, Karen Paxman and Elise O'Dea are in great form. This one will go right down to the wire.

COLLINGWOOD ($2.20) v ADELAIDE CROWS ($1.67) - Sunday 18 March, 2.35pm at Olympic Park Oval

Adelaide currently sit a win behind both the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne, as well as percentage behind GWS. By Sunday they will know the equation and they get their opportunity against a Collingwood side that have won just two from six. The Crows took out the premiership this year but have been thwarted this season by some indifferent form as well as injuries to key players. However, Erin Phillips and Ebony Marinoff are fit and ready to take on the Magpies. Look for them to lead the Crows to a win. Keep an eye on the equation as a Grand Final spot may come down to percentage.
