AFLX Preview and Fixtures Schedule - All you need to know

Adam Cusworth 20 Feb 2019
  • The AFLX is just around the corner.
  • Here is our guide to the pre-season competition.

The AFLX takes place at Marvel Stadium on Friday February 22 and the pre-season tournament features four teams in action.

The 'Bolts', 'Rampage', 'Deadly' and 'Flyers' feature a mixture of players from the competition's 18 regular sides and will be battling it out under the modified rules of the competition.

The four sides face each other once each with games comprising two halves of 10 minutes each. Bolts and the Rampage feature at 7.10PM and that is the first of six matches before the Grand Final at 9.57PM.

Modified rules include

— Game is played on a 110m rectangular field rather than an oval
— No centre square or froward 50 arcs
— Two 15m forward zones at either end of the ground
— Eight players on the field and six on the bench.
— Last touch out of bounds.
— Kick-ins from behind the goal line after all scores.
— 10 second shot clock for set shots
— No marks paid for backward kicks, except inside 15m forward zone
— 'Game changer' for last five minutes - every score by that player is worth double
