Carlton and the Western Bulldogs feature in one of three AFL matches on Saturday June 15.

The Round 13 clash will be played at Marvel Stadium. First bounce is at 7.25pm and all the action can be seen live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Match Preview

This shapes as an interesting one after Carlton registered what was just their second win of the season last weekend. That came against the Brisbane Lions in what was David Teague's first game in charge as coach of the struggling club.

The victory ended a run of six successive losses for the Blues, a streak that would see the club part ways with their now former coach, Brendan Bolton. Interestingly, their previous victory this year came against their opponents for this weekend's match, the Western Bulldogs.

The Dogs have struggled themselves in 2018 and have won just four of their 11 matches. They have lost their past three but head in with fresh legs after enjoying the bye last weekend. Prior to the break, it was a 61 point loss for the Dogs against West Coast.

Luke Beveridges side have more depth around the midfield and have been finding more of the footy than the Blues this season. Jack Macrae, Caleb Daniel, Marcus Bontempelli and Lachie Hunter all rank in the top 30 for disposals, while Patrick Cripps is the only Blue in the top 30.

However, Cripps and his teammates can head in with some confidence given their new found freedom. Sam Walsh, Charlie Curnow and Jacob Weitering are other key players for Carlton, who will look to continue from where they left off last weekend.

Selection News

Liam Jones and Marc Murphy are both chances of returning to the Carlton line up after missing the past few weeks due to injury. Lochie O'Brien hurt his leg in the win over Brisbane and will be monitored at training.

It will be interesting to see if the Bulldogs make changes after their disappointing recent form. Hayden Crozier, Taylor Duryea and Dale Morris are all chances of returning from their injuries.

Match Odds

Carlton $2.53
Western Bulldogs $1.48

Stats

The two sides met as recently as Round 5 this year and on that occasion it was Carlton that recorded a rare win, defeating the Bulldogs by 44 points. Harry McKay kicked four for the winners, while Sam Petrevski-Seton found a stack of the footy.

The Bulldogs won the five prior to that between the two sides, including both contests in 2018.

Prediction

This could go either way but the Blues represent the value in the head to head betting and are worth sticking with.
