Round four of the AFL home and away season gets underway with the Friday night MCG clash between Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.

First bounce is at 7.50PM and all the action can be seen live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Match Preview

Collingwood have won just one of their three games this season and desperately need a win to get back on track. In round three, last year's runners-up were again conquered by the team that defeated them in the Grand Final last year, West Coast, going down by 22 points.

On the same weekend, the Western Bulldogs suffered a five point loss to the Gold Coast Suns. That was the first loss for the season for the club after they notched up wins over Sydney and Hawthorn in the opening two weeks.

This game pits a couple of the competition's better midfields up against one another. Steele Sidebottom, Adam Treloar and Scott Pendlebury go up against the likes of Jack Macrae, Tom Liberatore and Marcus Bontempelli and the battle here will be an interesting one.

However, the Magpies look to have more firepower in their forward line with Jordan de Goey and a host of other options in fine form. At the other end, the Dogs will need to convert a bit better that they dis last week after managing just nine goals from 66 inside 50's.

Team News

Collingwood have no immediate injury concerns from the West Coast game last weekend. Ben Reid and Tim Broomhead returned to the VFL last weekend, while Isaac Quaynor might be considered after a solid display.

The Western Bulldogs are likely to regain Jason Johannisen from injury. Tom Boyd is set to return but may play in the VFL.

Match Odds

Collingwood $1.20
Western Bulldogs $4.25

The Western Bulldogs have won five of the past six games between the two sides but the most recent of those went the way of Collingwood.

That game was played at Marvel Stadium in round 10 last year and after three tight quarters it was the Magpies that broke away in the final term to win by 35. Adam Treloar racked up 40 possessions for the winners, while Toby McLean was the best for the Dogs.

The Doggies won the most recent clash at the MCG between the two sides and that was back in round one in 2017, a 24 point win. Luke Beveridge's side won at the venue in round two this year against Hawthorn but lost their two games there in 2018. Collingwood are 10 wins and nine losses at the home of footy since the start of 2018.

Prediction and Tips

Collingwood will have the answers in what should be an entertaining game.
