Port Adelaide and Fremantle feature in the final game of the AFL home and away season.

The Adelaide Oval clash gets underway at 4.40pm AEST and all the action can be seen on Foxtel.

Match Preview

Port Adelaide head in as favourites for this game and will need to win to be any hope of making the eight. The equation for the Power is complex as they need both the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn to lose their respective games.

Ken Hinkley's side have themselves to blame if they miss out and come off a disastrous Round 22 performance that saw them go down to North Melbourne by 86 points. The topsy turvy side were big winners in their two games prior to the Kangaroos game.

Their opponents, Fremantle, sit 13th on the ladder and have registered just one win fewer than Port Adelaide over the course of the season. They went down to Essendon by 32 points last weekend.

Ross Lyon's side have struggled to impact the scoreboard in recent weeks and have kicked fewer than 70 points in six of their last seven matches. Cam McCarthy and Michael Walters combined for five goals last weekend but the Dockers were ordinary when heading inside 50m.

Port Adelaide also have plenty to work on and have to improve in the middle of the ground after being smashed in the clearances and contested possessions last weekend. Travis Boak, Ollie Wines and Robbie Gray will need to do everything they can to ensure there is no repeat.

Selection News

Port Adelaide's Sam Powell-Pepper and Ollie Wines both sustained injuries in the loss to North but are expected to be ok.

Fremantle emerged unscathed from an injury point of view out of the loss to Essendon. Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan may sneak in for the last game as they recover from their respective issues but Jesse Hogan and Stephen Hill are among those that are done for the season.

Match Odds

Port Adelaide $1.34
Fremantle $3.18

Stats

Fremantle have won the last two games between the two sides, including the Round 13 encounter this season by 21 points. Michael Walters starred for the winners that day with six goals, while Nat Fyfe found plenty of the footy. Travis Boak was Port's best.

However, Port claimed victory the last time the two sides met at the Adelaide Oval and are unbeaten at the venue against the Dockers in three games. The Power have won five of their nine games against interstate opposition at the ground in 2019.
