Match Preview

Richmond have been posted as the $1.30 favourites in the head to head betting and claimed victory over Brisbane in the first week of the finals, defeating the Lions by 47 points.

They take on a Geelong will look to get off to a fast start. The Cats cast aside some poor opening quarter form to burst out of the blocks against West Coast in the Semi Finals, eventually winning by 20 points. Prior to that performance they went down to Collingwood by 10 points in the Qualifying Final.

Both sides won 16 games over the course of the home and away season. Geelong had the superior defence, conceding fewer points and Richmond's Jack Riewoldt and Tom Lynch will need to be at their best to overcome the Cats backline.

But is is at the other end of the ground where there are some concerns for Geelong as they will have to do it without their key forward, Tom Hawkins, who was suspended for a hit on the Eagles defender, Will Schofield last weekend.

Both sides are evenly matched in the middle of the ground and the battles in this part will be absorbing as Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin and Dion Prestia take on the likes of Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood and Tim Kelly.

The winner of this game will advance through to the Grand Final to take on either Collingwood or the GWS Giants for a shot at premiership glory.

Geelong will consider Gary Rohan and the former Sydney player could come in for Tom Hawkins, who misses due to suspension. Mitch Duncan will miss with a knee injury.
