Richmond Tigers host the Brisbane Lions in Round 23 action at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Sports 3 with the first bounce at 3:20pm AEST.

Match Preview

Richmond hold their own fate in their hands. If they beat the ladder-leaders, they secure a top four berth which looks crucial this season. They will know whether Collingwood was able to beat Essendon on Friday night; a Pies loss means the Tigers can afford to lose and still retain a spot in the top four.

The Tigers and Lions have motored home to finish the home and away season. Richmond’s winning streak sits at eight and the Lions’ at nine. The Lions are first on the ladder with a 16-5 record while the Tigers are fourth with 15-6.

Last week we had mouth-watering clashes with the Lions defeating the Cats by one point and the Tigers were six-point victors over the Eagles.

Former Brownlow Medal winner Dustin Martin was dominant against the Eagles and his impact on the game will swing the momentum in this game. Bachar Houli continues to rack up possessions off half back, averaging 28.3 disposals. His run and carry game is great to watch and he can propel the Tigers from defence to attack. The big watch is on whether Dylan Grimes will play.

The Lions have several weapons in their team. Charlie Cameron is a superstar and has kicked 52 goals this season. Richmond’s defence will need to be on because Cameron can quickly kick a bag. Lachie Neale is the engine in the middle of the ground, averaging 30.3 disposals. Hugh McCluggage is another key player for the Lions.

Selection News

Richmond – gun defender Dylan Grimes will be tested on an ankle injury in order to play. Captain Trent Cotchin should return. Jack Ross and Mabior Chol could face the selection axe.

Brisbane Lions – Allen Christensen will miss one week with a hamstring injury.

Match Odds

Richmond $1.42
