  • The Saints and the Hawks will be out to make it three wins this season
  • They square off at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon

Round 4 of the AFL home and away season concludes when St Kilda take on Hawthorn at Marvel Stadium on Sunday April 14.

Hawthorn head in as slight favourites for the 3.20PM clash and all the action will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Match Preview

Both sides have won two of their three games this season. St Kilda were victorious against the Gold Coast and Essendon before sustaining a five point loss to Fremantle in round three.

Hawthorn have registered victories against Adelaide and North Melbourne. Those wins were split by a 19 point loss to the Western Bulldogs in round two.

The Hawks were able to bounce back from that defeat by accounting for the Kangaroos by 16 points last Sunday and it was the work of their small forwards that stood out.

Luke Breust and Chad Wingard combined for eight goals and that pair loom as match winners again this week. Ben McEvoy and Jaegar O'Meara are other keys for the brown and gold.

St Kilda will look for big games from Jade Gresham and Jack Billings, who both starred last weekend. However, Alan Richardson's side will need to use the ball more cleanly when they are headed inside 50 if they are to spring an upset in this game.

Team News

St Kilda are unlikely to make too many changes to their line up. Nathan Brown will be monitored at training after copping a knock to the head in the Freo game.

Hawthorn are expected to regain Jarryd Roughead after the former skipper missed last weekend with a corked thigh. Jaegar O'Meara and Luke Breust received treatment during the North match but are expected to be ok.

Match Odds

St Kilda $3.32
Hawthorn $1.30

Stats

Hawthorn have won eight of their past nine games against St Kilda and took out the Round 22 2018 fixture between the two sides by four points.

That game was played at Marvel Stadium and Jack Gunston was the difference, booting four goals. Jack Lonie booted four for St Kilda, while Seb Ross found plenty of the ball.

Prediction and Tips

St Kilda have made a competitive start to the year but Hawthorn have an edge in class and should have the answers.
