Round 10 of the AFL home and away season gets underway on Friday night when the Sydney Swans play host to Collingwood at the SCG.

The May 24 encounter begins at 7.50pm AEST and all the action can be seen on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Match Preview

Collingwood are set to head in as firm favourites and are one of the teams to beat this season. The Magpies have won seven of their nine games thus far and are currently in 2nd spot on the ladder.

Nathan Buckley's side have won their past six games and come off a 41 point win over St Kilda when upping the ante in the last quarter of that game.

Sydney have generally struggled this season but Swans fans can be buoyed by the efforts of their side in the last two weeks that have yielded wins against both Essendon an North Melbourne.

A feature of those performances have been the efforts of the Swans younger players that have stepped up in the absence of established stars that are injured. Tom Papley booted four goals last weekend, while Jordan Dawson is another rising youngster.

However, Collingwood lead the Swans in a number of statistical measures and are finding more of the footy this year when compared to Sydney, while they have also averaged three more goals per game and have conceded an average of three less.

Adam Treloar, Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom are among six Magpies that are in the top 50 for average disposals, while Jake Lloyd and Josh Kennedy are the only two Sydney players. With a stack of options in this part of the ground, as well as the forward line, the Pies can continue on with their charge towards the finals.

Selection News

Sydney are finally expected to regain Lance Franklin from a hamstring injury but Zak Jones will miss after hurting his hamstring in the win over North Melbourne.

Collingwood were without Jordan de Goey and Darcy Moore in the Saints win but that pair are expected to return. Mason Cox faces a fitness test.

Match Odds

Sydney Swans $3.12
Collingwood $1.33

Stats

Sydney have won three of the past four against Collingwood and were thrilling two point winners at the SCG the last time the two sides met. That was in Round 20 last season.

Prior to that it was Collingwood by one point at the SCG in Round 3 of 2017. Interestingly, the past six games between the two sides have been held in Sydney and the ledger is split at three apiece.

Sydney's recent woes at home have been well documented and since the start of 2018 they are six wins and 10 losses at the venue. In the same time period, Collingwood have won five of their seven games interstate.

Prediction and Tips

Collingwood will have all the answers in this game.
