  • Essendon to host Richmond in epic Channel 7 TV Clash
  • Two teams have the bye this round

The Peter Jackson VFL rolls into the eleventh week of the season with a big TV game and key clashes across the weekend.

Geelong will take on the Coburg Lions this Saturday afternoon at Simonds Stadium with a vital four points on the line. Coburg snapped their losing streak last week to record their first win whilst Geelong secured a percentage booster against North Ballarat. The Cats kept their finals hopes alive with a 49-point win over the Roosters. Coburg stormed home to kick the last six goals of the game to win 13.10 (88) to 8.15 (63) against Sandringham. The Lions only kicked 4.10 in the first half before taking control of the second with eight goals to four for their maiden win of 2017.

Port Melbourne will host Casey Demons in a blockbuster Saturday afternoon match at North Port Oval. The Borough are third on the ladder whilst Casey's winning form sees them storm to 6th on the ladder. Port Melbourne suffered a 37-point loss to Collingwood at home last weekend whilst the Casey Demons won their fifth successive game when defeating the previously unbeaten Box Hill Hawks away.

Essendon and Richmond will clash in the “match of the round” on Saturday at Windy Hill. The match will be televised live on Channel 7. Richmond are 8th on a 5-5 record whilst Essendon are 9th on a 5-5 record, only percentage separates the two sides. Essendon put an end to the Seagulls six-game winning streak with a 15-point win as the Bombers answered everything Williamstown had. Richmond's 84-point win over the Northern Blues saw them jump Essendon into eight spot.

Collingwood will tackle Footscray on Sunday morning with a big game at Victoria Park. The Magpies are 12th and need a win to keep any chance of finals footy alive. Footscray are 4th at 6-4, a win against the Pies will help settle them into the top-four. The Magpies claimed a huge scalp last round defeating the Borough at North Port Oval. Collingwood kicked seven goals in the final term to storm home to a big win. Footscray went wire-to-wire to defeat Werribee Tigers by 24 points.

The Northern Blues are hosting the Box Hill Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Preston City Oval. Hawks still sit on top of the ladder while the Blues fell out of the top four but still remain in 5th spot. The Northern Blues had their worse loss of the season last weekend when Richmond defeated them by 84 points. The Blues kicked a woeful 4.7 (31). Box Hill fell to their first loss of the season when overwhelmed by the Casey Demons. The Hawks got within three points of the Demons, but just couldn't find that extra gear.

Sandringham and Werribee Tigers will close the round out with a game at Trevor Barker Beach Oval. The Zebras are 11th on the ladder and will be hoping this home clash can steer their season in the right direction. Werribee are 7th and a win can help cement them in the top eight. Sandringham's inaccuracy cost them against the Lions last week, kicking 8.15 in their 25-point defeat. Werribee trailed the entire game and were beaten by Footscray.

North Ballarat and Williamstown Seagulls will have the bye this weekend.
