VFL Football returns to Frankston Oval this week whilst a thrilling VFL/AFL double header between Footscray and Richmond on Saturday headlines the round.

The opening game of the round sees a big clash between rivals Geelong and Box Hill Hawks at Simonds Stadium on Saturday. The Hawks are running on great momentum with an unbeaten start to the season whilst the Cats pulled their journey in the right direction last week with a win seeing them at 2-1. Geelong kicked 10 goals to to Casey's four in the second half last week to run away with a 36-point win at home. Box Hill asserted themselves as a team to beat this season with a 28-point win against Williamstown away from home.

Essendon and Port Melbourne are set for a big game on Saturday with the contest taking place at Frankston Oval. Port Melbourne head the competition with a 3-0 start gifting them top spot on the ladder while Essendon have been underperforming with just one win this campaign. Inaccuracy cost the Bombers last week with 9.20 to 14.13 seeing them lose to Werribee at Arden Street. Port Melbourne's undefeated start lived on with an impressive 30-point win at home to Richmond.

Sandringham and North Ballarat will clash at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Saturday with the game to be televised live on Channel 7. Sandringham secured a big win last week to move to 2-1 while North Ballarat are searching for their maiden win this season. The Zebras jumped the blocks early with the first five goals of the game to overcome the Magpies at home. North Ballarat suffered a big loss under the lights last Friday night to Footscray.

Footscray will take on Richmond in a VFL/AFL double header on Saturday afternoon with the contest taking place at Etihad Stadium just hours before the AFL clash between Western Bulldogs and Richmond. It's set to be a great game with Richmond (3rd) and Footscray (4th) both showing encouraging signs early in the season. Footscray delivered a knockout blow to North Ballarat last week with a big percentage-boosting 124-point win. Despite showing purple patches throughout the game, Richmond couldn't get the job done against Port Melbourne.

Rivals Collingwood and Northern Blues meet in a mouth-watering clash at Victoria Park on Sunday afternoon. Northern Blues have showed they can potentially be a contender this season with some big wins early while the Pies have been flying under the radar. The Pies woeful kicking cost them four points last week with 12.21 (93) seeing them lose to Sandringham 17.11 (113). Northern Blues put their foot down with a mammoth 62-point win against Coburg at Piranha Park.

Williamstown will play host to Coburg in a big VFL standalone clash at Burbank Oval on Sunday. After an impressive round one win, Williamstown have failed to return to those heights with two consecutive losses. Coburg are just one of two sides left winless after a big loss at home last week to the Blues. After kicking the first four goals of the second term, Williamstown were outplayed with Box Hill kicking 10 of the next 12 goals to secure the victory.

The last fixture of the round sees Werribee take on Casey Demons in Hoppers Crossing on Sunday afternoon. Four points is vital to both sides after 1-2 starts leaving them in need of a win to not fall too far down the pecking order. Werribee are aiming for back-to-back wins after a solid 23-point win against Essendon last week. Casey Demons were battling one-on-one against the Cats with both teams managing just two goals apiece by half-time. Geelong's 10 goals to four in the second half saw them take the 36-point win.
