The Western Bulldogs and Collingwood meet at Marvel Stadium in the final game of AFL Round 14.

First bounce is at 3.20pm AEST on Sunday June 23 and all the action can be seen on Fox Sports.

Match Preview

The Western Bulldogs head in as underdogs for this game and need a win to keep their remote finals chances alive. They enter in with a win-loss record of 5-7 and scraped past Carlton in Round 13, holding on to win that game by three points.

Their opponents for Sunday, Collingwood, sit in 3rd place on the ladder and have won nine of their 12 games for the season. The Magpies had the bye in Round 13. Prior to the rest, they defeated Melbourne by 41 points in the Queens Birthday game.

Both sides play a high possession game. Jack Macrae, Caleb Daniel and Marcus Bontempelli should find plenty of the ball for the Bulldogs, while Scott Pendlebury and Adam Treloar loom as key players in the middle for Collingwood. Brodie Grundy should control the ruck battles and can give the Pies first use of the footy.

The difference might be Collingwood's superiority at either end of the ground. They have more options up forward and in defence they rank 3rd in the competition for fewest points conceded, while the Dogs are 15th.

Look for Jeremy Howe to provide a steadying influence, while the Dogs will need Sam Lloyd, Tory Dickson and Aaron Naughton to fire in this part of the ground if they are to pull off an upset.

Selection News

Taylor Adams and Jamie Elliot will be pushing hard for selection for Collingwood and may be over their soft tissue injuries. The question might be who to drop. Brayden Sier has done well since coming back in. Travis Varcoe and Josh Thomas were quiet against Melbourne but would be unlucky to miss out.

Tom Liveratore will miss for the Western Bulldogs after injuring his knee against Carlton last week. Dale Morris is edging closer towards a remarkable return from an ACL.

Match Odds

Western Bulldogs $3.45
Collingwood $1.28

Stats

Collingwood have won the past two games between the two sides, including the Round 4 encounter this year by 14 points. The Bulldogs led at three-quarter time in that game but were overrun late. Brodie Grundy was the dominant player, while Marcus Bontempelli starred for the Dogs.

It should be noted that the Dogs won five on the trot against Collingwood before the two most recent clashes. Three of those were at Marvel Stadium. They are two from five at the venue this year. The Magpies have won their past five at the venue, a sequence that stretches back to 2017.
