The defending champions, Golden State Warriors travel to Cleveland with a 2-0 series lead over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. What will game 3 bring?

After a crushing game 1 defeat, the Cleveland Cavaliers could never recover at Oracle Arena. Chants of ‘MVP’ were heard loud when J.R. Smith went to the free throw line in Game 2. The Cavaliers were brave for the first 12 minutes, but never looked a winning threat as the Warriors took game 2 122-103.

After a poor game 1, Kevin Durant was his efficient superstar self in game 2. Durant finished with 26 points (10-14 FG), nine rebounds, seven assists and two blocks, finishing the game a +24 in 36 minutes.

The Warriors flexed their muscles after ‘feeling out’ the Cavaliers in game 1. Stephen Curry finished with a game-high 33 points and made an NBA Finals record nine threes. Klay Thompson had 20 points, but did still look to be suffering effects from his ankle injury in game 1.

LeBron James had an ‘off’ night after dropping 51 points in game 1, but still finished with 29 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists, shooting 50 percent from the field. He missed shots he usually makes and looked lethargic coming off that crushing game 1 defeat.

One of the most worrying things for the Cavaliers is that so far in this series, the Warriors roleplayers have outperformed the Cavs roleplayers. Shaun Livingston and Javale Mcgee went a combined 11-11 from the field and finished with 22 points in the Warriors game 2 victory.

J.R. Smith, Kyle Korver, Jordan Clarkson and Jeff Green went a combined 5-23 from the field and finished with 14 points. Those four cannot be outscored by the Warriors backup point guard and Javale Mcgee who has hardly gotten minutes at all these entire playoffs.

As we look ahead to Game 3, the Cavaliers role players must be better. J.R. Smith, George Hill, Kevin Love and Kyle Korver need to knock down shots when LeBron James collapses the defence.

Roleplayers do play better at home, so I do expect an improved effort from the Cavaliers in a do or die game. Although the Cavs did win Game 4 last year when down 3-0, that was with Kyrie Irving. I believe if they go down 3-0 in this series, they will roll over and die.

LeBron James knows this is a must-win game and should have more energy back in the Quicken Loans Arena. I still have the opinion that the Warriors win in five games and this is the game that the Cavs get. Back them to win Game 3 at Unibet.
