Wyong and Goulburn tips for Friday August 3

  • Confidence: 94% Regine; 92% The Haitian Poet; 90% Helsonic; 90% McMahon

We have a pair of meetings in NSW today. A provincial meet at Wyong and the always popular Goulburn meet.

City trainers just seem to target it so fields are strong.

Goulburn: races on a Good 4. Rail is true.
Wyong: races on a Good 4. Rail is true.

GOULBURN

Race 2 - 12:35PM SUN SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
The John O'Shea mare REGINE will be giggling from start to finish here. This grade is about 6 lengths weaker than each of her past 4 runs. She's a get back, run on type and she has been doing that but just not timing that run perfectly running out of real estate late. She probably sits a pair closer than usual here because the grade is weaker and if she sees daylight in time, will flash home. ANTONIO'S PRIDE for new trainer Richard freedman can be around the money also.

Race 7 - 3:40PM GOULPRO MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)
I hate saying this, but to me, this is a put in, take out race. THE HAITIAN POET for Team Hawkes just maps too well here. probably will be quite short, but he looks to be the one who jumps clear early, steadies and controls the tempo and proves too swift down the running. Multi him up with everything you like on the card.

WYONG

Race 2 - 12:50PM BISHOP COLLINS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS 4YO & UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1350 METRES)
Richard Freedman has a knack for producing winners and this mare HELSONIC may well be the next on his production line. She is having her 2nd start here and on the basis of her debut run at Gosford when a strong finishing 4th this grade, you just have to think natural improvement will give her another 2 lengths and that will be enough to triumph here.

Race 7 - 3:55PM BONYTHON TOWER CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Can I finally say that this bloke has been placed to perfection? Hope so. The Chris Waller-trained McMAHON has been nominated and accepted for a number of races over the past few weeks and that is always a sign a horse has talent. Has also been scratched from a fair few. This might be about the easiest race he has been accepted for and as such, looms large. Only having 4th career start and Tim Clark to ride but where there is smoke there is always fire. Stable like him and so do I.
