Previous Kembla Grange Tips - August 4

Race 4 - 1:59PM AUDREY ASHFORD MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2400 METRES)
You know what they say, in fact a couple of racing sayings here: always back a mare in form, and winning form is the best form. Enter EVERLY GIRL. She’s trained here, and won this trip, this track last start at Class 1 level by 3 lengths with this weight. Yes, this is harder but she is rock solid and in great touch.

Race 5 - 2:34PM JASMINE SAVIDES 11TH CELEBRATION F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Mark Newnham produces the top weight here in RIGHTEOUSNESS and she may well develop into being a Saturday city grade horse. If so, she wins this on her ear. Only had the 2 starts, and her last start before spell being a comfortable provincial maiden winner. Since won a strong trial. Market will tell us a lot but looks pretty smart.

Race 7 - 3:54PM ILLAWARRA TURF CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Interesting maiden race here with a couple who might just make it as stayers of the future. One of them is the mare FLOWER OF LOVE, owned by Gerry Harvey. Nicely bred and looks likely to appreciate this small field at 3rd race start. Will get back near last but is fit enough now to make a dash down middle of track from Come Along.

July 21

Race 1 - 11:59am ILLAWARRA TURF CLUB CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2400m)
Taking odds on about a horse who only has one win from 29 starts usually isn’t a winning formula, however, the Melissa Harrison-trained EVERLY GIRL looks close enough to a moral in the opening race at Kembla Grange. The four-year-old Mare has finally put it all together this preparation, bolting in by three lengths at Gosford three starts ago before a third at Newcastle. She got buried on the fence last start at Wagga and didn’t see daylight until the final 150m. For a horse running over 2500m, she showed a terrific turn of foot to charge into second. She drops back 100m but that should be no concern. In the small field of six, she can sit just off the speed and charge over the top.
Result (1st - $1.65)

Race 3 - 1:09pm BULLI TOPS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200m)
Three-year-old Sepoy filly TIKI BAR should be far too good for these. On debut, she beat home a horse called Envy Of All. That horse has gone onto run well behind She Knows in a Listed race. She then beat home the likes of Basara and Divine Messenger who was competitive with Whypeeo. Tiki Bar was three-wide the trip in a seven-horse field, coming off a 25-week spell last start at Gosford. She looked the winner at the furlong, but her condition showed the final 50m and she was beaten a half-head. She has since trialled superbly behind Single Bullet. She must carry 60.5kg but looks all class.
Result (unplaced)

Race 6 - 2:59pm SHANE EADES TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP (1400m)
The daughter of Star Witness, BURDEN OF PROOF looks well placed in this event. The three-year-old Filly has won four races from 18 starts, including two from two over the 1400m here at Kembla Grange. She raced in town last start and was only beaten 3.5 lengths behind Seahampton, who is a genuine city class horse. She is weighted well, only 2.5kg off the minimum and maps well from barrier six.

Race 1 - 11:49AM SHANE EADES TRANSPORT PTY LTD MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)
Godolphin's UNWISE loomed up to win first up last start and died on her run final 50m to just go under. It was a brave effort and she looks a grade above her rivals this time. Get on I say.
Result (1st - $1.70)

Race 3 - 12:54PM HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
If 2YO trial form is anything to go by then this unraced bloke REGAL CAPITAL should beat these. Mind you, there are some others from the trial worthy of note. This is actually a city grade juvenile race but the way Regal Capital accelerated when asked in the straight to win his trial - man, I liked what I saw.

Race 7 - 3:29PM TULLIMBAR PTY LTD MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)
I can't see any reason to drop off THOR'S THUNDER here. He's an on pace runner, may well lead these from this good draw and he's placed past two starts at this track in this grade. So many things point to him hanging on this time.
Result (2nd)

Race 3 - 12:54PM WORLD WIDE CABLES 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
I just loved the way KENTFORD raced when he debuted last start. He was last early in what I think will prove a very, very strong form race. Yet he stayed on the fence, and despite being $101, he made ground late and ended up a fast closing 4th. Surely this is easier and being 300m further might be of help too. Looking forward to this event.
Result (unplaced)

Race 6 - 2:49PM NHP ELECTRICAL CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
He's a 5YO so he must have had a few issues in his life but the 4 runs BARNABAS has put in thus far have all been sound. He likes to get back and run on and he did that when resuming last start when 4th at Hawkesbury over 1300m. Suited this long straight.
Result (1st - $2.30)

Race 8 - 4:09PM LED GROUP ROBUS MAIDEN PLATE (1500 METRES)
Locally trained and performing well, that makes me like THOR'S THUNDER a great deal here. He can sit up near the lead and having placed this grade last start over 1600m, you just know he will be savaging the line here. Big show.
Result (2nd)

What Bets To Place at Kembla Grange Races

There are a number of ways to bet on horse racing this weekend from a standard win or place bet to quadrellas and multibets.

SINGLE: The most common bet. The single bet involves betting on your selection to win, place, or both (each-way). If betting each-way (see our guide for what an each-way bet is), the stake is doubled as you are betting on your selection to win, and also to place.

QUINELLA: A Quinella bet is available on every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least three or more runners. To win a Quinella, you must successfully predict the 1st and 2nd placegetters in any order

EXACTA: An exacta is exactly the same as a quinella. However, you must successfully predict the 1st and 2nd placegetters in the correct order

TRIFECTA: A Trifecta bet is available on every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least four or more runners. To win a Trifecta, you must successfully predict the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in a given race.

FIRST4: A First4 bet is available on most thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least four or more runners. To win a First4, you must successfully predict the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placegetters in a given race.

MYSTERY BET: A Mystery Bet takes the guess work out of picking a Trifecta and is generated by the betting agency’s computer. The computer system will randomly select three runners and if they fill the placings you win the Trifecta.

QUADDIE: A Quaddie bet, or Quadrella bet as it is fully known, is available on most thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race meetings. A quaddie is betting on the winners of four nominated races, which are typically the last four races of any meeting, and is a very popular bet.

MULTIBET: Multibets offer a great way to secure big winning returns on your bets as you combine various bets into one, and are proving to be an extremely popular way to bet. A multibet combines any number of bets from two to 25 into one single bet and dramatically increases the odds.

PATENT BET: A Patent bet is similar to a three-leg multibet but is made up of seven separate bets: three singles, three doubles and a trio. Where a multibet requires all selections to win for a return, a patent bet will yield a return from just one winner.

ALL-IN BETTING: All-In betting involves a bookmaker offering fixed odds on selected feature races prior to the declaration of the final field. All-In betting on the Melbourne Cup, for example, is available for the better part of 12 months leading into the event. The risk with All-In Betting is that you will not receive your stake back if your horse is scratched.
