The cricket loving public of Australia is eagerly waiting for the start of Big Bash League 08 from December 19 and we've got you covered with the best bets and predictions.

This year Big Bash is bigger, better and a lot different. There will be new locations, an increased number of matches and a return to the traditional roots – like the bat toss replacing the coin toss.

With undiminished excitement and attention we prepare for another octane-filled season of cricket action. Here’s a peek into what are our top three picks of the season ahead.

Perth Scorchers - Top four finish

What is the most consistent thing in T20 franchise cricket? Definitely, it has to be the Perth Scorchers. In the seven years of the tournament so far, the Scorchers have reached the playoffs in every season – the only team to own that proud record.

Not just that, the Scorchers are winners in three seasons and runner-up in two more. Even if their successful coach Justin Langer has left the club to be with the national team, the Scorchers still ooze experience and class.

Andrew Tye, Michael Klinger, Ashton Agar, Ashton Turner, David Willey, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff, and Usman Qadir – have a look at their roster and they look solid as ever, this season too. The chances of the Scorchers reaching the top-four look very high!

Rashid Khan - Top Tournament Wickettaker

The flamboyant Afghanistan leg-spinner was a revelation last year for the strikers. In just 11 matches that he played for the side, Rashid picked up 18 wickets at an economy rate of 5.65 runs per over.

That economy rate is the second-best ever in the history of the tournament. Although last season’s matches in the second-half saw the batsman treat Rashid with respect and improve his economy rate, but he is still one of the best in the business.

Rashid will be key to the Strikers’ chances of repeating the title charge from last year. With his ability to pick wickets out of nothing, back him to be close to the top of the bowling charts once again!

Chris Lynn - Top Tournament Runscorer

The newly-appointed captain of the Brisbane Heat has a huge task on his shoulders. The swashbuckler has a SR of 145 in 134 T20s, including the T20 internationals. More importantly he has scored 207 sixes so far, to go with the 288 boundaries struck.

Fitness has always been a concern with Lynn and should he stay fit, it would be a treat for all cricket lovers. He has the ability to change the course of a game within an over and will continue to bring that ability to the table.

Last season, Lynn played just five games and scored 148 runs @ 162.63. This season should see more games and more runs from Lynn.
