India v Australia 4th ODI Tips, Predictions and Preview - India bid to seal the series

India and Australia

Australia pulled their game together at the right time to spoil MS Dhoni’s home coming and win by 32 runs in Ranchi, but can they level the series?

India are still 2-1 ahead in the five-match series as the teams move to Mohali for the fourth ODI on Sunday.

India will be looking to seal the series, although the focus will be on making changes to their playing XI with only two games left before finalizing their World Cup squad. For Australia, it is a case of building up on the win and ticking more boxes.

India

Virat Kohli’s second century in a row is just a reminder of how good he is. He already has 283 runs in the series, while only Kedar Jadhav with 118 runs has aggregated more than 100 for India.

The bowlers also struggled, with the hosts failing to take a wicket in the first ten overs for two games in a row now. Kuldeep Yadav continues to pick up wickets at will and has eight in the series. There could be changes in the bowling unit to gain an extra edge in the opening overs.

Australia

The visitors enjoyed the return to form of their captain Aaron Finch (93), while Usman Khawaja (104) picked up his maiden ODI century. What really worked for the Aussies is the way their middle-order keeps scoring quick runs, with Alex Carey’s SR at 101.28 this series.

Bowling has been all about Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa who have seven wickets each in the series. Jhye Richardson’s pace is an extra asset, as the Aussies look to level the series.

Match Up

MS Dhoni is about to be rested for the next two games, which gives a chance for Rishabh Pant to impress. Mohammed Shami was a positive, although the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar could change the bowling unit as well.

Australia are beginning to tick their boxes at the right time, as Finch got back into form and the bowling looking a lot more competitive.

History & Statistics

  • India have won eight of their last ten home ODIs against Australia (W8, L2).
  • India have won five of their last six ODIs played at this venue.
  • India’s Virat Kohli has eight 100s in 34 ODIs against Australia, only behind Sachin Tendulkar’s nine from 71 ODIs.
  • Australia have won only one of their last nine ODIs away from home.
  • Australia have won five of their six ODIs at this venue, including their last three against India.
  • Australia have lost 19 of their last 21 ODIs away from home (W2, L19).

Key Players

Pant will get a full chance to impress and bag his place in the World Cup plans. His aggressive batting gives another dimension to the Indian middle-order in Mohali.

Finch looked good in Nagpur and excellent in Ranchi, so there should be more runs flowing out of his bat.

Prediction

India have managed to win the first two matches, but were not able to stamp their authority yet. Both the games were close contests, while the loss in Ranchi was a reminder of their batting inefficiencies. Australia look to have got their act together and should fancy their chances of another win to level the series here.

Tips

Back Australia to win @ $2.30 (Ladbrokes).

Back Australia to have the highest opening partnership @ $2.10 (BetEasy).

Back Zampa to get over 1.5 wickets @ $2.37 (Ladbrokes).
