Pakistan v Australia 2nd T20 Tips, Predictions and Match Preview - Pakistan to clinch series

Hasan Ali takes a catch

Pakistan swamped Australia with one of their best bowling performances handing them a 66-run drubbing in the 1st T20I and the teams now move to Dubai for the 2nd T20I on Friday.

Pakistan will be gunning for a series-clinching win and the visitors will be looking to make a comeback, making this an interesting encounter.

Match Preview

Pakistan had a scatter gun batting approach that nearly backfired on Wednesday. Thanks to their ‘crisis man’ Babar Azam showing his relentless hunger to pile runs and lead his side out of trouble, Pakistan ended with a respectable 155 for 8. The stylish opener remained unbeaten on 68*, while a late flourish gave them at least 20 runs more than what Australia were hoping for.

The Australian chase never got on as the left-arm spinner Imad Wasim, playing his first international match after almost a year, burst through the top-order with figures of 3/20. Faheem Ashraf made sure the Aussie hard hitters didn’t explode, with figures of 2/10. It was only a rear-guard performance from the late middle-order that reduced the winning margin.

Australia will take heart from the performance of their bowlers led by the lanky Billy Stanlake with figures of 3/21. Andrew Tye’s variations brought him figures of 3/24, but the visitors will be worried that they let Pakistan off the hook after having them 133/8. The momentum certainly shifted in the last couple of overs, which was where they lost the plot.

The batsmen looked to be in a hurry to chase the score down, with none of the top-order Aussies giving some time to settle at the crease. It was only a minor miracle that Nathan Coulter-Nile scored 34 off 29 balls to reduce the losing margin to 66-runs, which was still one of the worst.

Pakistan played like the top-ranked T20I nation and look likely to continue their domination of the Australians. Another win will give them an unassailable lead in the series and Australia look unlikely to change that at the moment.

Match Odds

Pakistan - $1.75
Australia - $2.05

History & Statistics

Key Players

After roaring to form with an excellent knock in the second innings of the final Test, Babar Azam seems to have found his mojo back. He has anyways been in great T20I form and should continue that on Friday.

In the midst of a match that was a carnage, Tye’s bowling continued to be as effective as it always been in T20Is. The wily T20 operator should be at it once again for the visitors as they bid to make a comeback in the series.

Tips

Back Pakistan to win the match at odds of $1.80 (bet365).

Back Babar Azam to score over 21.5 runs at odds of $1.83 (Ladbrokes).

Back Andrew Tye to be Australia’s top bowler at odds of $5.50 (bet365).
