Pakistan v Australia 3rd T20 Tips, Predictions and Match Preview - Can Aussies salvage pride?

Pakistan and Australia

Pakistan continued their mastery of T20 cricket and won the second T20I against Australia by 11 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

With just pride to play, Australia will hope to earn some of it when the series winds down with the third and final T20 International at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on Sunday.

Match Preview

Pakistan walked to their tenth straight T20I series win and although the 11-run winning margin doesn’t indicate, they have been the dominant team on the park on Friday. Babar Azam (45 from 44 balls) once again showed just why he is such a master batsman in this format with another classy knock.

Mohammad Hafeez (40 from 34) also scored a vital knock and at one stage Pakistan looked on track to pick up a 170-180 score. However, the score of 147/6 was still a very competitive one. Especially if you have variety in your bowling like Imad Wasim, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan.

Wasim (4-1-8-1) was the man-of-the-match for his exemplary spell, as Australia struggled in the middle overs against Afridi (2/35) and Shadab Khan (2/30). That they could even make a fight out of their disastrous innings was due to the whirlwind innings of 52 from 37 balls from Glenn Maxwell.

Together with Nathan Coulter-Nile (3/18, 27 from 17), Maxwell was the best player for Australia and only because of their efforts did the Kangaroos even get closer to the target. Australia were in the game until the last over, when Maxwell got out, although the controversy around D’Arcy Short’s run-out earlier in the day was a tough cookie to swallow.

Pakistan may have annexed the series – their tenth in a row in T20Is, but may not slacken their grip on the series. However, a chance to test their bench strength could throw a window of opportunity to Australia. The Kangaroos have shown improvement in the second match and it is only natural to hope that the side can break their jinx with a win.

Key Players

He was unlucky – in some sense – to have gotten out in the second T20I and Short will be itching to settle the scores in this match. With a chance to impress the selectors and get a place in the ODI plane to the World Cup also there, he would be looking for all the luck he can lay his hands on!

There is no luck in the way Azam has been batting – calm, composed, and clinical. He will surely be the bedrock of Pakistan innings once again, so don’t rule out another impressive score from him.

Tips

Back Pakistan to win at odds of $1.72 (bet365).
