Perth Scorchers v Brisbane Heat BBL Tips, Predictions and Preview - Strugglers clash in must-win game

Ashton Turner of the Scorchers

Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat clash at Optus Stadium on Saturday in a battle between two struggling sides stuck to the bottom of the Big Bash League table.

While the Heat are yet to win this season, the Scorchers have won one game but have been raking up losses at an alarming rate. Though the season is still young, losing this match would put pressure on the playoff chances of both sides.

Perth Scorchers

Captain Ashton Turner (150 runs, SR 108.69) nearly won the Scorchers the game against the Thunder, but otherwise it has been a poor batting show so far. With none of the top-order performing, it could come down to the Test discard Mitchell Marsh to pull his weight in runs.

Bowling has been about the fast bowling duo of Jason Behrendorff (seven wickets, ER 5.58) and Jhye Richardson (six wickets, ER 4.86). With the Perth Stadium set to aid their pace bowling with extra bounce, the hosts will look to get back to winning ways.

Brisbane Heat

The poor form of Chris Lynn (146 runs, SR 130.35) coincided with the downtrend of Heat’s results, although he has come back to form in their last match. The problem for Heat remains their inability to squeeze runs out of their batsmen.

Even the bowling is short of stars, as five different players have picked up two wickets each. The control of Mujeeb Ur Rahman (ER 6.58) and James Pattinson (ER 6.50) is a positive, but the Heat needs one of their bowlers to produce a big performance.

Match Up

On this fiery pitch, it will be the pacers who will look to turn the tables for the Scorchers. Batting still remains a sore point, which could make things interesting.

The Heat are in equally poor form with the bat, while the bowling hasn’t been ground shattering either. It could come down to be a fierce contest between the batsmen.

Key Battles

Even before he turned the heat on the Thunder in their last game, Turner was batting too few overs to show his skills for the Scorchers. If he does indeed play more time in the middle, the Scorchers could be set for a tall score.

Lynn was always one shot away from finding his form back, and his whirlwind knock against the Sixers (84 off 55 balls) nearly won them their first points of the season. He is still not quite the destructive force that he can be, which is bad news for the Scorchers.
