The fourth and final major of the 2018 golf season takes place at Bellerive between August 9-12 as it stages the 2018 USPGA Championship.

Justin Thomas will be the defending champion having lifted his first major title at Quail Hollow 12 months ago, and he comes in fresh off victory in the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.

Can Thomas become the first back-to-back winner of the USPGA Championship since Tiger Woods in 2006 and 2007?

We've picked out three players to back at Bellerive this week with the focus on those who figured prominently in the WGC Bridgestone Invitational last week.

With the exception of Thomas, who was T28 in the WGC Bridgestone before winning the USPGA Championship, a good weekend at Firestone is key. Rory McIlroy (won and T5), Jason Dufner (T4), Keegan Bradley (T5), Jason Day (T12) and Jimmy Walker (T16) all performed well before taking out the USPGA title.

Tony Finau

I was on for Tony Finau for The Open and he gave us a good run for our money before ultimately finishing ninth at Carnoustie. That's top-10 finishes in all three majors so far this year for the American and he also finished 10th in the 2015 USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits. Also 10th at Firestone last week, Finau looks primed for another big weekend and is available at generous odds.

Rory McIlroy

McIlroy is a two-time winner of the USPGA Championship having won in 2012 and 2014 and it could well be his time once again. Like Finau, he was a serious contender in The Open for much of the weekend, ending as runner-up to Francesco Molinari. A disappointing final round at the WGC Bridgestone saw him drop to sixth last weekend, but if he can string four rounds together at Bellerive he should be right in the mix...and I think he will.

Brooks Koepka

Winner of the last two US Opens, Koepka has a consistent record in the USPGA Championship too with his last four efforts reading T15, T5, T4 and T13. I expect the American to be well and truly in the frame at Bellerive, especially given he bounced back from a missed cut to finish fifth in the WGC Bridgestone which I'm focusing on so closely. Koepka knows what it takes to get across the line in majors, is great value and might be being underrated a touch.
