Three Group 1 races will be held at The Meadows on Saturday night and here are my best bets for the Zoom Top, Rookie Rebel and Temlee.

RACE 5 – ZOOM TOP 725M – 8:38 PM

Superstar stayer Tornado Tears resumes from a spell and he will have to overcome box eight and race-fit opposition in order to capture the 2019 Zoom Top. His very best form trumps rivals but will he be ready to go first up?

Poco Dorado (1) will wear the red rug and John Finn’s smart bitch will be looking to lead. She had won five consecutive races prior to a last-start third at Wentworth Park when beaten as a $1.50 favourite. Two starts ago she was too good for Barcali in 41.95 for the 720m at Wentworth Park. 14 of her 29 wins have come in races 700m or greater which showcases her staying capacity and I think she can make Tornado Tears pay here with race fitness on her side.

RACE 6 – ROOKIE REBEL 600M – 8:58 PM

We are hoping the Seona Thompson-trained Deliver (3) can do just that by winning the Rookie Rebel. He has come up with box three and looks to extend his winning streak to three after taking care of Dyna Chancer by 3L and Benali by 1.25L in recent encounters.

His last start was a slick 34.09, which is about three lengths outside of Dyna Double One’s track record. A repeat performance of that run would likely be a winning effort on Saturday night.

Neo Cleo will be a huge danger but Deliver was an 8L winner over her three starts ago.

RACE 8 – TEMLEE 525M – 9:38 PM

The third and final Group 1 for the evening at The Meadows will be the Temlee. It’s hard to go past Cranbourne Cup winner Orson Allen (2) who represents Avalon trainer Correy Grenfell. Four straight victories have Orson Allen in top form as he aims to surpass $300,000 in stakes.

Orson Allen defeated Poke The Bear by 4.25L in the Cranbourne Cup after running 29.77. The pair meet again here with Orson Allen in box two and Poke The Bear in four. The box advantage could prove the difference after Orson Allen crossed his chief rival in the Cranbourne Cup.

Melbourne Cup champion My Redeemer will be a big concern considering he has won five times from six starts when wearing the pink rug.
