The 2019 Miracle Mile (1609m) will be action-packed when it is run at Menangle on Saturday night.

What a race this will be with five of the eight runners in single figures. The defending champion My Field Marshal is double figures, while two horses are at triple figures, but they won’t be figuring in the finish.

The speed map is tricky with Poster Boy kicking up from barrier one and then probably looking to take a trail on one of the All Stars runners. My Alpha Rock can fly out and that could shake things up with Poster Boy not wanting to trail that horse. Tiger Tara almost certainly looks the breeze horse in the race, while Thefixer should obtain cover in the moving line.

There are plenty of scenarios in the race. Will there be speed on or could they get away with a cheap early split? I will admit that I don’t really know what some of them will do, but I do know Poster Boy and Thefixer should both map well in the race.

Drawing an inside barrier is a massive advantage when it comes to the Miracle Mile. There are big-race drivers engaged also and both Chris Alford and Natalie Rasmussen know how to win harness racing’s biggest races. That’s before even mentioning Luke McCarthy.

I keep going back to Poster Boy and Thefixer – they have the two inside barriers.

The odds have swayed me with my selection. Poster Boy is currently $4.50 and could be bigger on the night. Thefixer is $3.80 in comparison.

Trained by Emma Stewart, four-year-old entire Poster Boy (1) secured his spot in the Miracle Mile by capturing the Chariots of Fire in 1:49.1. He raced 1 out 3 back before finishing powerfully to defeat Ashley Locaz by 1.9m. That was his 18th career victory from just 25 starts which outlines his tremendous talent.

My prediction is that they will pace a 1:48-mile and being on the pegs is always a good place to be when they are running strong time. The ground saved racing on the peg-line can often be the difference at the end of races and that could be the case as Alford will be looking for an economical run before looking for clear running so that Poster Boy can finish strongly.

Thefixer is my second pick in the race ahead of Spankem and Chase Auckland. Tiger Tara is the horse that I am happy to oppose from his wide draw and I can’t envision him sitting in the death seat and winning.
