Boom Time ridden by Cory Parish wins the BMW Caulfield Cup

Caulfield Cup (2400m) nominations are up on last year (142) with a total of 164 entries being taken for the $5.15 million feature. 

International entries have risen from 22 to 27 with nominations received from England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany and Japan.

Champion Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien has nominated Deauville, Idaho, Cliffs Of Moher and Yucatan, while his son, Joseph, has entered Irish Derby winner Latrobe, Ming and Master of Reality.

Chestnut Coat (Yoshito Yahagi) and Sole Impact (Hirofumi Toda) are set to fly the flag for Japan in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups with entries received for both races.

The David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Boom Time is one of 15 entries for the powerful Lindsay Park stable and will be aiming to become just the third back-to-back winner of the prized handicap. 

Last year’s Caulfield Cup runner-up Single Gaze is one of 24 nominations for her new trainer Chris Waller, while Caulfield Cup 4th placegetter Lord Fandango has been entered by Archie Alexander.

Last season’s Guineas-winning duo Grunt (Australian Guineas) and Mighty Boss (Caulfield Guineas) have been nominated for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups by trainer Mick Price who is chasing his first win in both.
