Caulfield Cup Exotics Tips - how to get the Quinella, Trifecta and First 4 on the Caulfield Cup

  • Big Exotics dividends go hand in hand with the Caulfield Cup

If you’re not playing the Exotics in big races like Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) you are missing out on the chance to make a small fortune.

Pools for the big races attract far more money, and the best thing is, most of it is from inexperienced punters that are picking Quinellas, Trifectas and First 4s by horse name, colour of jockey silks, favourite numbers etc.

While some massive wins have been had using this method, it comes down to pure luck.

Racing is not a game of pure luck, and while there is some luck needed, doing the form will produce far more winners than a lucky guess will.

The form has been done, and I’m confident we can make some good money by playing the Exotics in the 2018 Caulfield Cup.

ANALYSIS

A wide-open affair that I’ve narrowed down to three leading chances. YOUNGSTAR and KINGS WILL DREAM are favourites for the race and it’s easy to see why following their 2nd and 3rd placings behind Winx in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) last start.

Each runner is looking for the extra trip and should get suitable runs from good barriers. NIGHT’S WATCH is the other runner I’m keen on, despite him laying in and looking a bit plain in the Caulfield Stakes (2000m). He drops a massive 7kg on that run and with a quiet ride out the back, he’ll try and swoop around the field and finish over the top of them.

I’m standing this trio out for 1st and will be adding a few more for 2nd, 3rd and 4th placings in the Exotics.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained THE CLIFFSOFMOHER flashed home in the Caulfield Stakes and he’s previously been tested with a quick back-up which he improved at and finished 3rd in the Hardwicke Stakes (2405m).

RED VERDON beat The Cliffsofmoher home in the Hardwicke and meets him 2.5kg better at the weights, so he has to be included, and stable sure know how to prepare a horse to race in Australia.

But Red Verdon was also beaten 3.8 lengths by Defoe over 2400m, and BEST SOLUTION and The Cliffsofmoher have both beaten Defoe, so all the form ties in well and they look the leading contenders of the Europeans.

Of the Japanese pair, CHESTNUT COAT looks the likely first-up performer and should be included for 3rd, as should local hopes ACE HIGH (6), THE TAJ MAHAL (7), VENTURA STORM (11), HOMESMAN (13) and GALLIC CHIEFTAIN ($16)
