Red Verdon (2nd in the Hardwicke Stakes) is among the international hopes.

Darren Weir’s hopes of claiming Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) have been enhanced with long-time favourite Kings Will Dream coming up with barrier 6.

Recent winners from gate 6 include Mongolian Khan (2015) and All The Good (2008).

Kings Will Dream earned entry into the Caulfield Cup with a dominant five-length win in the Mornington Cup (2400m) last campaign and has been building towards Saturday’s $5 million showpiece with recent placings in the Memsie Stakes (1400m), Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) and Turnbull Stakes (2000m).

Stablemates Gallic Chieftain and Night’s Watch have met with mixed results having drawn gates 2 and 18 respectively.

Chris Waller’s hopes of claiming victory on Saturday rest with classy mare Youngstar who finished 2nd to Winx in the Turnbull Stakes and has drawn toward the middle of the field in barrier 10.

Top weight Best Solution (57.5kg) who is trained by Saeed Bin Suroor and comes to Australia with three consecutive wins this campaign including his last two at Group 1 level in Germany over 2414m and 2000m, has drawn wide in barrier 17.

Japanese stayers Chestnut Coat and Sole Impact have also drawn wide in gates 13 and 20, while the remaining internationals, The Cliffsofmoher, Duretto and Red Verdon have fared much better in barriers 3, 1 and 9 respectively.
