Melbourne Cup Exotics Tips - Quinella, Trifecta and First 4

  • Big Exotics dividends go hand in hand with the Melbourne Cup
  • $160 for 100% of the Trifecta if successful.

If you’re not playing the Exotics in big races like Tuesday’s Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) you are missing out on the chance to make a small fortune.

Pools for the big races attract far more money, and the best thing is, most of it is from inexperienced punters that are picking Quinellas, Trifectas and First 4s by horse name, colour of jockey silks, favourite numbers etc.

While some massive wins have been had using this method, it comes down to pure luck.

Racing is not a game of pure luck, and while there is some luck needed, doing the form will produce far more winners than a lucky guess will.

The form has been done, and I’m confident we can make some good money by playing the Exotics in the 2018 Melbourne Cup.

ANALYSIS

I’ve got MAGIC CIRCLE on top. He’s won his past two starts by six lengths and has shown a sharp turn of foot at the end of 3749m and 3264m, so we know he’ll be strong at the end of 3200m when there are some doubts over others. He defeated A Prince Of Arran by nine lengths and that horse was comprehensively beaten by Cup favourite Yucatan, so the form stacks up.
There is a slight query around BEST SOLUTION, YUCATAN, MUNTAHAA and CROSS COUNTER running a strong 3200m, but each has the breeding to do it and are clear 2nd picks based on what they’ve done to date – but I can’t split them.
YOUNGSTAR clocked the best final 200m in the Caulfield Cup and looms as a chance if she runs the trip out, and stablemate WHO SHOT THEBARMAN is a genuine 3200m horse and can’t be discounted. THE CLIFFS OF MOHER also ran home well in the Caulfield Cup, A PRINCE OF ARRAN has form behind Yucatan and has subsequently won at Flemington, while MARMELLO was my top pick in 2017 and could make amends without a lead-up run to flatten him this time.

QUINELLA

TRIFECTA:

FIRST 4:

Using the same combination in the First 4 will cost $1120 so we need to make some hard calls and reduce the numbers, so I’m taking Magic Circle one out to win.
