Menari a confirmed starter in The Everest

The uber-talented three-year-old colt Menari is a confirmed starter for The Everest, with slot holders Max Whitby and Neil Werrett reaching an agreement with the owner-breeder of Menari George Altomonte.

Dubbed ‘Menari the Ferrari’ the son of Snitzel hasn’t been seen since he ran third in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1200m) last September. A near-side fetlock injury kept him out of the Autumn Carnival, however, trainer Gerald Ryan is confident the Colt has made a full recovery.

The biggest win of Menari’s career thus far was in the Group 2 Run to the Rose (1200m) at Rosehill.

Assuming Chautauqua jumps from the barriers in his Rosehill barrier trial on Monday morning, there will only be two spots remaining in Australia’s richest race. The confirmed starters are as follows:

Redzel (Yulong Investments)
Brave Smash (Chris Waller Racing)
Trapeze Artist (Aquis)
Santa Ana Lane (Inglis)
US Navy Flag (Coolmore)
Chautauqua (GPI Racing)
English (Damion Flower)
In Her Time (TAB)
Shoals (The Star)
Menari (Max Whitby)

Horses that haven’t yet secured a spot include Kementari, Nature Strip, Brave Smash, Vega Magic and Redkirk Warrior.
