Menari - Out of The Everest

Trainer, Gerald Ryan has announced that Menari will not run in this year’s Group One Everest due to injury.

Racing NSW have made the announcement that Menari has sustained an injury and will not run in The Everest.

The announcement released stated…

"Trainer Gerald Ryan has reported to Racing NSW Stewards this morning that Menari has sustained an injury to its near fore tendon and will not race during the Sydney spring carnival which includes The Everest to be conducted at Randwick on Saturday, 13 October 2018.

"Mr Ryan advised that given the nature of the injury, connections will now give consideration to retiring the stallion."

The four-year-old Snitzel horse has raced just eight times for three wins and two minor placings.

His biggest scalp was the Group Two Run To The Rose (1200m) where he ran 1.08.59 in beating home Pariah and Perast with the Godolphin-owned Kementari in fourth place.

With the withdrawal of Menari, this now leaves three vacant slots available in The Everest and makes it a little easier for Kementari along with Nature Strip and Chautauqua to earn a place in the $13 million event.
