Winx will face eight rivals in Saturday’s Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick.

Here is our runner-by-runner guide for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

1. HAPPY CLAPPER (6) - Patrick Webster, Blake Shinn, 59kg
What a horse Happy Clapper is and what a terrific race he gave Winx two starts ago in the Group 1 Chipping Norton (1600m). He led and ran 11.6 lengths above benchmark to the 600m and still had the audacity to run home above benchmark for the final 600m. He was well backed last start in the All-Star Mile but just doesn’t handle Melbourne and pulled up with an exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage. He returns to Randwick and should get a nice run in transit from barrier six. He can run second.
Odds: $19.00 (Ladbrokes)

2. HARTNELL (4) - James Cummings, Kerrin McEvoy, 59kg
The warhorse Hartnell backs up here in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and will try and run second to Winx one last time. He was unlucky not to get closer to Mystic Journey in the All-Star Mile (1600m) and backed up that effort with another brave third in the Doncaster Mile (1600m) last Saturday. That was his grand final so I doubt he can take improvement on the seven-day back-up but he must’ve pulled up well for Cummings to press on. He can run second.
Odds: $26.00 (Ladbrokes

3. HARLEM (8) - David & B Hayes & T Dabernig, Jamie Kah, 59kg
The two-time Australian Cup winner will be hoping for a drying track on Saturday as all of his best performances have been on good tracks. He more than likely won’t get the speed on to suit and is probably unders at $51.
Odds: $51.00 (Sportsbet

4. HE’S EMINENT (3) - Sir Mark Todd, James McDonald, 59kg
The five-year-old son of Frankel was $26 into $8.00 for the Ranvet Stakes but did find his right price late, drifting back out to near 25/1 on betfair at jump time. Looking at the sectionals, it was a terrific front running ride from James McDonald, who from the 1000m to the 400m went 12.96s, 12.28s and 12.24s, which is the perfect way to ride a leader. Considering his trainer Sir Mark Todd said the horse hadn’t worked with another horse for six-weeks, it was an unbelievable effort to run second. I can only imagine he takes improvement and is a real live hope to run second.
Odds: $18.00 (Ladbrokes

5. KLUGER (1) - Tomokazu Takano, Tommy Berry, 59kg
I was really impressed with Japanese visitor Kluger, who ran a great fourth in the Doncaster Mile first-up in Australia. There was plenty to like, as he ran the eighth-fastest last 200m of the meeting, tenth-fastest last 400m of the meeting and 15th-fastest last 600m of the meeting. I can only imagine the seven-day backup is a positive and I’ll be looking for him to run another good race.
Odds: $51.00 (Beteasy

6. MASK OF TIME (7) - Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, Sam Clipperton, 59kg
He will struggle in this grade.
Odds: $151.00 (Sportsbet)

7. WINX (9) - Chris Waller, Hugh Bowman, 57kg
I’m not going to bother with the stats or the figures, as we know all there is to know about possibly the greatest racehorse of all time. The epitome of Winx I thought came last start in the George Ryder, as she ambled up to her rivals under a tight hold she turned her head sideways for two or three strides, pulling for more reign so she could sprint and put the race away. Those horses who she beat so easily, were Brutal and Dreamforce who quinelled the Doncaster Mile at their next start, one of Australia’s biggest races. It’s mind blowing how easily she does it, she ran the quickest last 600m of the day last Saturday at Randwick in a track gallop… on a day with four Group One races. It’s been a privilege to watch her.
Odds: $1.06 (Sportsbet)

8. DANZDANZDANCE (5) - Chris Gibbs & Michelle Bradley, Opie Bosson, 57kg
The New Zealand visitor ran a terrific third behind Avilius and He’s Eminent in the Ranvet Stakes (2000m) and on that form could be a top four chance. He does need a wet track however and if the weather continues to improve, he is savage unders.
Odds: $31.00 (Sportsbet)

9. SHILLELAGH (2) - Chris Waller, Brenton Avdulla, 57kg
She ran to her peak three starts ago in the Australian Cup (2000m) behind Harlem and has struggled to get back to that level in her two runs since. Her last start effort in the Doncaster Mile was credible but going from 2000m back to 1600m and now back up to 2000m sixth-up doesn’t look like a recipe for success.
Odds: $71.00 (Beteasy
