Defending champion Redzel has drawn the inside gate after coming up with barrier one for the 2018 The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13.

Twelve months on from winning the inaugural The Everst, Peter & Paul Snowden's sprinter came up with gate one for the defence of his title in the $13 million feature.

The Anthony Freedman-trained Shoals, who shares favouritism with Redzel, will jump from barrier two, while the other two horses at the top of the betting will be alongside one another with Gerald Ryan's Trapeze Artist in gate six and last year's runner-up Vega Magic in seven for David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig.

U S Navy Flag, the overseas Coolmore runner trained by Aidan O'Brien, came up with barrier three for his bid for glory, with Darren Weir's entrant Brave Smash next to him in four.

Osborne Bulls will jump from gate five for Godolphin and James Cummings after replacing stablemate Home Of The Brave in the final field on Tuesday prior to the barrier draw.

Those drawn wider include In Her Time (eight), last start winners Santa Ana Lane (nine) and Viddora (12), Graff (10) and Le Romain (11).

Four more emergencies have been named with Clearly Innocent, Dothraki, Jungle Edge, Pierata and Spright all on standby for a run.
