Trap For Fools no certainty at Moonee Valley

  • Trap For Fools has suffered a minor setback
  • Can he still win at Moonee Valley?

The Jarrod McLean-trained Trap For Fools has suffered a setback before running in the Ladbrokes Cash Out Handicap (2040m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The five-year-old gelding has been heavily backed, from $3.30 into $2.50, with many punters including this writer, declaring him the best bet of the day.

Punters confidence will be dented, with Jarrod McLean telling RSN 927’s Racing Pulse “We’ve had a slight setback.. It all started with a tiny little quarter crack.”

“Confident we’ve got all the infection, he’s just very tender on it. We’ve opted to make up a three-quarter bar plate and that's been put on him.”

“At the moment I’m happy but they can either improve or go backwards, we’ll monitor him in the next 24 hours.”

McLean was very confident prior to this injury, saying, “He galloped terrific on Tuesday and I came away, you know, don't like saying the word moral, but I was very happy.”
