Prediction

Match Preview

Canberra look to extend their winning run of form in the nation’s capital on Easter Sunday when they aim for a rare victory over the struggling Brisbane Broncos.

Defence was the emphasis for Canberra over the off-season, and it’s paid immediate dividends, with the Green Machine keeping two teams scoreless over the first five rounds, including Parramatta last week.

It’s the best defensive effort by the club to start a season since 1990, with the Raiders looking like genuine premiership contenders.

Their only defeat has come to the table-topping Storm, while they’ve only conceded 44 points in total across five rounds. Ricky Stuart has made one change for this clash with Junior Collins coming onto the bench for the injured Joe Tapine.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are a bit of a shambles right now, losing four of their first five games and languishing near the bottom of the ladder.

For a club that demands success in a one-team city, it’s simply not been good enough from Brisbane, and now they have to travel and face one of the in-form teams in the competition.

Brisbane are lacking control in the halves but continue to stick with Kodi Nikorima and Anthony Milford, while Gehamat Shibasaki comes into the team for the injured Matt Lodge.

As mentioned, Brisbane have been dominant in this match-up recently, winning their last six encounters dating back to 2013. However, this is a different Canberra outfit, and if they maintain their rock solid defence, I don’t see Brisbane’s stunted attack scoring enough points to win.

Match Odds

Canberra Raiders - $1.58
Brisbane Broncos - $2.34
