Melbourne Storm look to bounce back from last week’s loss to Souths when they play host to Cronulla Sharks to conclude NRL Round 22 action on Sunday.

Prediction

Match Preview

A rematch of the 2016 Grand Final awaits as Round 22 draws to a close on Sunday afternoon as the Storm and Sharks look for an immediate response after suffering last-start defeats.

On an eight-match winning streak before last week, Melbourne were outclassed at ANZ Stadium by the Rabbitohs in what many are saying was a Grand Final prequel.

Slipping to third on the ladder as a result, the Storm could regain the top spot if they beat Cronulla and Souths go down to the Roosters on Friday night.

Craig Bellamy traditionally gets his team to bounce back after somewhat heavy defeats - the Storm have won all four games this season after conceding 20 points. Can they do it again after a 30-20 loss to the Rabbitohs?

Meanwhile, the Sharks need to win if they want to keep their top four hopes alive. Cronulla head into this showdown on the back of a two-match losing run against the Sea Eagles and Broncos - although the margins were by a combined three points.

But that’s the fine line a team like the Sharks tread - they love the grind and close encounters and every so often they are going to come out on the wrong side of the scoreline.

However, Cronulla have a great record against Melbourne, winning four of their last six meetings - including that 2016 Grand Final. But their record isn’t as flash at AAMI Park - they’ve lost seven of their last eight. With Melbourne determined for a bounce back and playing at home, it looks like another close loss could be on the cards for the Sharks.

Match Odds

Melbourne Storm - $1.48
Cronulla Sharks - $2.70
