Melbourne Storm will be out to atone for their loss at home to Canberra last week when they take on last-placed Gold Coast Titans in NRL Round 23 action on Sunday.

Storm vs Titans kicks off at 2.00pm AEST at AAMI Park. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Prediction

Match Preview

It’s first against last and things could get ugly quick as competition leaders Melbourne square off against the embattled Titans on Sunday afternoon.

Although they are comfortably leading the NRL and will almost certainly capture the minor premiership, Melbourne will be looking to make a statement after they let slip of an 18-0 lead last week at home to lose against the in-form Raiders.

Craig Bellamy will demand an immediate response - and that isn’t good news for the Titans. With the finals just around the corner, Melbourne need to get back into a groove, and what better way than putting on a big score against the cellar dwellers.

Brandon Smith is back from an ankle injury in the only change to last week’s team, with Tino Faasuamaleaui the man to miss out.

Meanwhile, the Titans can almost see the finish line of what has been a terrible season. Gold Coast have only won four of their 21 games and come into this match last on the ladder with an eight-match losing streak dating back to early June.

There’s no denying it, Gold Coast are a club in crisis both on and off the field and it would be one of the biggest upsets of the century if they were to beat Melbourne at AAMI Park.

The Titans did actually lead Melbourne 12-0 back in Round 18, but the Storm came back to prevail 38-18, and I expect them to at least reach that points total again. Anything other than a big Melbourne win would be a massive shock.

Match Odds

Melbourne Storm - $1.07
