Prediction

Match Preview

It’s fourth vs fifth in the third game on Super Saturday during Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium with the Storm and Eels squaring off for the only time this season - barring a finals clash of course.

Melbourne were the form team of the competition over the first month of the season, bouncing back strongly from their Grand Final loss to the Roosters last year and without Billy Slater for the first time in over a decade.

However, the wheels have started to fall off over the last month, with the Storm struggling to a six-point win over the Cowboys, losing to the Roosters, edging the Warriors by one point and then going down to the Sharks last week.

It’s far from panic stations with the Storm still nestled safely in the top four, but it’s unusual to see Craig Bellamy’s side go this long without turning their fortunes around. Can they produce a more polished display on Saturday night?

Parramatta will fancy themselves in this showdown, even more so after recovering from 14-0 down to beat the Dragons 32-18 last week in front of another packed house at BankWest Stadium.

The Eels are rolling along nicely this season and could leapfrog Melbourne into the top four if they can emerge triumphant on Saturday night. Brad Arthur has named just one change to his side, with Tim Mannah returning from an ankle injury in place of Kane Evans.

Parramatta have troubled Melbourne in recent years, winning against them in 2015, 2016 and 2017, while they suffered a two-point loss last season. In their current form and away from Melbourne’s home turf, the Eels will back themselves to take this one out - and if Blake Ferguson, Mitchell Moses and co. continue to fire, they are a solid chance.
