New Zealand Warriors and St George Illawarra Dragons look to bounce back from disappointing last-start defeats when they face off in NRL Round 9 action on Saturday.

Warriors vs Dragons kicks off at 5.30pm AEST at Suncorp Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Match Preview

After both teams leaked 30 points last week, the Warriors and Dragons will each be determined to immediately return to the winners circle during Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

The Warriors slumped to their sixth loss in eight games this season after falling 36-16 to the Knights at home last week and already face an uphill battle to replicate last year’s top eight finish.

Since their opening round demolition of the Bulldogs, the Warriors have only won one of their next six games and are struggling without Shaun Johnson.

Stephen Kearney has moved to fix that problem and signed Kodi Nikorima from the Broncos effective immediately, with the halfback set to make his Warriors debut on the ground he called home two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the Dragons were rolling along nicely before blowing a 14-0 lead against Parramatta last week, scoring just four more points as they were trounced 32-18 at BankWest Stadium.

To make matters worse, the Dragons have lost Corey Norman to a broken cheekbone, with Jai Field coming in for his first game of the season.

Both teams are failing to back up their starts to the season from last season, but I’m leaning on the side of the Warriors in this one. The Kiwi club usually play well in Brisbane and had the wood over the Dragons last year, winning both encounters, including snapping St George Illawarra’s six-game winning start to the season. Norman’s injury is a big blow for the Dragons and I’m not sure they’ll have enough points to beat the Warriors on Saturday.

Match Odds

St George Illawarra Dragons - $1.60
New Zealand Warriors - $2.40
