Prediction

Match Preview

North Queensland and Manly bring contrasting form lines into this Round 13 showdown as both teams look to secure a spot in the top eight by the end of the weekend.

The Cowboys are on a three-match winning streak for the first time since 2017 after conquering the Eels, Raiders and Titans to move to within a win of the top eight, while the Sea Eagles have lost three of their last four games to drop down to seventh.

With the middle of the competition so tight, two points is extremely valuable on Saturday night. The Cowboys are just two points away from fourth spot despite sitting in 11th place on the ladder, while Manly could theoretically fall to 12th if they lose and all the teams below them win.

It’s shaping as a must-win clash as both players sweat on the fitness of their Origin stars. Michael Morgan and Josh McGuire have been named in the Cowboys’ starting side, while Daly Cherry-Evans and Jake Trbojevic have been selected in the reserves, but Des Hasler will surely promote them if they come through Origin unscathed.

Manly also receive a big boost with the return of star fullback Tom Trbojevic as he comes back into the side following a long lay-off with injury.

With the Cowboys in form and Manly struggling, the home side will fancy themselves to make it four wins on the bounce. Manly were excellent to start the season, but they’ve gone off the boil in recent weeks, while the opposite applies for North Queensland. Back the in-form side at home to win this one.

Match Odds

North Queensland Cowboys - $1.75
Manly Sea Eagles - $2.10
