Can the Wests Tigers bounce back from their embarrassing loss last week when they head up to Townsville to face North Queensland Cowboys on Friday night in NRL Round 14 action?

Match Preview

It’s amazing to see Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah still running around for the Tigers 14 years after they helped the joint-venture club win their first premiership in 2005 with that famous Grand Final win over the Cowboys - but can the inspire their side enough in attack to beat them once more on Friday night>

We haven’t seen much more lacklustre performances than what the Tigers dished up last week at BankWest against the Raiders, with Michael Maguire’s side losing 0-28 and never once threatening to get on the scoreboard.

The Tigers’ attack isn’t as bad as most are making out - they’ve scored over 20 points in two of their last four games and managed to score 16 against an in-form Rabbitohs side, but they are very inconsistent from week to week.

Maguire has attempted to spice up the attack by making some backline reshuffles, with captain Moses Mbye moving into the centres, Corey Thompson shifting to fullback and Robert Jennings returning on the wing.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys will be determined to bounce back from last week’s tight 22-20 loss to Manly at home.

North Queensland had a couple of close calls go against them and fought bravely after losing Jordan McLean and Mitch Dunn to injury, playing with just a two-man bench.

It’s hard to say if the Cowboys are going to challenge for the top eight, but this is a massive game for both sides - they’re each on 12 points and outside the eight on points differential alone. Who steps up and gets their season going in a positive direction on Friday night?

You’ve got to side with the Cowboys judging by last week’s performances. The Tigers were terrible and have only won once in Townsville since 2011. If North Queensland produce the same effort as last week, they should be too strong at home.

Match Odds

North Queensland Cowboys - $1.64
Wests Tigers - $2.25
