Canberra Raiders and Manly Sea Eagles collide in a blockbuster top four clash in the pick of this weekend’s NRL Round 23 matches.

Canberra and Manly have transformed into genuine premiership contenders this season and will be determined to claim bragging rights before potentially meeting again in September. The Raiders made an enormous statement in Round 22, coming from 18 points down to beat competition leaders Melbourne at AAMI Park, while Manly were clinical in a 20-point dispatch of the Tigers. The two sides square off at Gio Stadium on Sunday in the last match of the weekend.

Round 23 action begins at Bankwest Stadium on Thursday night as traditional rivals Parramatta Eels and Canterbury Bulldogs face off. Parramatta are still chasing a top four finish themselves, but they must be weary of an in-form Bulldogs side, who have won five of their last seven matches and are coming off a win over the Rabbitohs last week.

Penrith Panthers are tasked with a must-win game as they take on North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville in the first game on Friday. The Panthers dropped out of the top eight following their loss to the Broncos last week, while the Cowboys’ disappointing season officially came to an end after their 36-point loss to Newcastle.

Brisbane Broncos will be aiming to maintain their position in the top eight when they host the struggling South Sydney Rabbitohs in the second game on Friday at Suncorp. Brisbane fired themselves back into a finals spot after that aforementioned win over Penrith, while the Rabbitohs are in danger of missing out on the top four following their poor defeat to Canterbury.

Super Saturday starts at PointsBet Stadium with another crucial top eight showdown between Cronulla Sharks and New Zealand Warriors. The Sharks climbed into eighth position after their victory over the Dragons, while the Warriors simply need to win to give themselves any chance after suffering a heavy defeat at the hand of the Roosters in Round 22.

It’s also do-or-die stuff for Wests Tigers and Newcastle Knights as the two teams do battle in the second game on Saturday at Campbelltown. Both teams are locked on 20 points and need to win in order to keep their seasons alive.

Sydney Roosters can then go a long way to wrapping up a top two finish if they can beat the lowly Dragons in the final game on Saturday at Jubilee Stadium, while Melbourne Storm can secure the minor premiership with a win over bottom-placed Gold Coast Titans.
