Melbourne Storm look to make it five wins from five to start the season when they face the struggling North Queensland Cowboys in NRL Round 5 action on Friday night.

In a rematch of the 2017 NRL Grand Final, the Storm will be favourites to extend their unbeaten run to begin the season when they meet the Cowboys in Townsville on Friday night. Melbourne came from 0-12 down to edge out Canterbury 18-16 on Sunday, while the Cowboys suffered a 30-12 loss to Canberra.

Round 5 kicks off on Thursday night at Suncorp Stadium as the Brisbane Broncos play host to Wests Tigers. Both teams are coming off last-start defeats, with the Broncos slumping to a heavy 36-4 loss to the Roosters, while the Tigers were pipped in golden point by the Panthers.

Speaking of the Panthers, Ivan Cleary’s side aim for back-to-back wins when they square off against the Gold Coast Titans in the first game on Friday at Cbus Super Stadium. The Titans are the only winless team in the competition after four rounds following their 26-10 defeat to the Warriors last week.

Super Saturday begins at Sunshine Coast Stadium as the South Sydney Rabbitohs clash with New Zealand Warriors. The Rabbitohs will be hoping to bounce back from last week’s disappointing defeat to Manly, while the Warriors are trying to build on their win over Gold Coast.

Manly Sea Eagles target their third win on the trot when they meet Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Sea Eagles posted a shock win over Souths last week, while the Knights went 1-3 to start the season after losing in golden point to the Dragons.

Cronulla Sharks and Sydney Roosters close out Super Saturday when they face off at Shark Park. The Roosters are starting to find their best form after their destructive win over Brisbane, while Cronulla will be looking for an immediate response following their 12-point defeat to the Eels.

After a brave performance against Melbourne, Canterbury Bulldogs will be aiming for their second win of the season when they take on the St George Illawarra Dragons in the first game on Sunday at Jubilee Stadium. The Dragons will be going for their third straight win following one-point wins over the Broncos and Knights over the last fortnight.

Round 5 concludes when the in-form Canberra Raiders and Parramatta Eels collide at GIO Stadium. Both sides are 3-1 to start the season, with the winner to finish the round in the top four.
