Prediction

Match Preview

Equal on points but separated by four spots on the ladder due to points differential, Easter Monday’s blockbuster at a sold out Bankwest Stadium between the Eels and Tigers promises to be a blockbuster.

Both teams are won three games and lost two over the first five rounds, but the Tigers are in fifth spot due to their superior points difference, while the Eels are lurking just outside a finals spot in ninth.

The Tigers bounced back from disappointing defeats to the Bulldogs and Panthers by scoring a come-from-behind six-point victory away to Brisbane last week and will be hoping to climb into the top four by taking home another two points on Monday.

Unsurprisingly, Michael Maguire has named the same 17 players that got the job done over Brisbane last week.

Parramatta meanwhile will be hoping to christen Bankwest Stadium with an opening win and bounce back from a 19-0 shut-out to the Raiders last week.

Despite their inability to get on the board last week, it’s been a successful start to 2019 for the Eels, who’s only other loss this season came against reigning premiers the Roosters.

Brad Arthur has opted for some youth on the bench this week, with 19-year-old Oregon Kaufusi and 21-year-old Ray Stone coming in for Kane Evans and David Gower.

The Eels have won three of the last four meetings between the teams, but Monday’s clash is as even as it gets. Both sides are even on points and playing much improved football in 2019 than last season, while a sell-out crowd will provide an electrifying atmosphere. I’m backing the Eels home in a thriller.

Match Odds

Parramatta Eels - $1.84
