Match Preview

It’s been a nightmare season for both these teams, but one of them will pick up a much-needed two points as they fight to avoid the wooden spoon.

Gold Coast have been terrible all year and have barely put in an effort in their last couple of defeats to the Broncos and Roosters, with their last win coming back in early June.

The Titans have sacked their coach during that time and need to start building towards next season. However, they are currently four points behind the Dragons and Bulldogs, and loss here would all but condemn them to the wooden spoon for 2019.

Jai Arrow returns from an ankle injury for this clash, while AJ Brimson also comes back into the side for the injured Michael Gordon.

St George Illawarra haven’t been too bad in their last couple of losses, going down in close against to the Rabbitohs and Eels, both of whom are in the top six.

Paul McGregor is under immense pressure after recently re-signing for two more years and will be determined to get his side back on track in their remaining games of the season. The Dragons are still mathematically in the race for the eight, but it would take a miracle even if they win all of their remaining games, which they simply won’t do in current form.

In saying that, they should still be far too strong for the Titans at home. Gold Coast are leaking points left, right and centre and aren’t playing to NRL standard at the moment - I’d be shocked if the Dragons let this one slip.

Match Odds

St George Illawarra Dragons - $1.30
Gold Coast Titans - $3.40
